MORRO BAY, Calif. -- The Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce announced that because of the weather the Lighted Boat Parade will be postponed to December 8th.
The Harbor Department, Chamber of Commerce and event organizers made the decision to change the date because high winds and a high surf is expected on December 1st.
The biggest concern was safety for people participating and watching the boat parade. Most of the boats use portable generators that are outside, and because of the rain it is a serious safety hazard to have them out.
Organizers also wanted to give participants in the parade enough time to get ready for the show. They said it usually takes a whole day to decorate an entire boat. Organizers also feared if the parade continued during bad weather several boats would withdraw from the parade and not as many people would show up.
