SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif-Fire fighters and Sheriff Deputies testified in court today, revealing details about the murder of the 15-year-old Santa Maria girl whose burned body was discovered two years ago.
"All I took in was, we killed a little girl, and it was a we," said Curtis Rhodes from Calf Fire, describing statements made by Cody Miller, a defendant in the case.
Law enforcement officials took the stand Tuesday in response to a motion filed by both parties. Out of the five defendants being charged in the case, only Ty hill, Rhonda Wisto and Cody Miller were present. The other two defendants in the case, Jason Greenwell and Frank York declined to be at the motion.
According to several witnesses who took the stand, Miller said he assisted with the murder and that the group planned to kill him too. "He wasn't complying with whatever they were planning on doing and they sexually assaulted him with a baseball bat," said Rhodes. When questioned by Hill's attorney, fire fighters said they needed to question Miller to find out if Myers was still alive. "He told me there was a murder he was involved in and there was a body on the hill," said James Schmitz from Cal Fire.
Hill's defense continued to ask witnesses if Miller seemed coherent at the time, and if he answered questions without being asked. This hearing will continue Wednesday when additional witnesses from the Sheriff's Office will testify.
