BUELLTON, Calif.- Family and friends are mourning the loss of Jenny Clark, a physical education teacher in Buellton. Clark was the passenger of an alleged drunk driver who crashed into a tree late last month.
"I am going to miss her smile and her wittiness," said Linda Clark, Clark's mother.
Linda Clark would have never thought she would be having to plan her daughter's funeral.
"I cant imagine, I was very blessed with her," said Clark.
Clark passed away Sunday after being in critical condition and put into a medically induced coma. Last month, Clark was driving with Benjamin Bettencourt, who California Highway Patrol says was drunk when he crashed into a tree on Highway 246.
Friends say Clark spent most of her time at Oak Valley Elementary School teaching Physical Education and coaching a volleyball team called the Central Coast Spikers.
"Many of the children she worked with had disabilities and she worked hard to find ways to help them be active," said Jenna Watson, a parent at Oak Valley Elementary School.
As Clark's classroom sits empty, the school is working to grow a garden in her memory to keep her spirit alive.
A celebration of Jenny's life will be held on Saturday, December 88th from 3-5 PM at the Buellton Recreation Center at Jonata School, 301 Second Street, Buellton, CA 93437. Everyone is welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you bring your stories and memories and be ready to share.
