CHENEY, Wash. -
Get ready for night two of college basketball rivalry games in the Inland Northwest. Wednesday belonged to Washington State and Gonzaga. Thursday is Eastern Washington versus Idaho.
The Eagles picked up the win last season in Moscow – a rare feat for the program. Now Jim Hayford and his players are focused on making a statement in the rivalry – a statement about themselves.
"Right now we are just so focused on getting better as a team and preparing for our opponent that for most of our players it's just a team in black and gold jerseys," said Hayford. "I think it will form into a rivalry, but for it to be a rivalry you gotta keep your end of the deal."
Eastern Washington is coming off a successful home opener last Friday against Cal State Fullerton. The Vandals beat UC Davis 73-66 on Dec. 1.
Thursday's game will be televised on SWX in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
