You Could Be Living Next Door To A Meth House, And Not Even Know it

Posted: Updated:

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif.- How well do you know your neighborhood? You may be surprised about who's living on your street. Police say it happened to some people who had a meth house operating right next door.

There are 92 confirmed meth houses in California and 10 of those are operating on the Central Coast. Neighbors in Arroyo Grande say they want the drug addicts off their streets.

As Brandin Aguayl takes a walk with his three-year-old daughter he's reminded he lives on the same street as a meth house.

"It's terrible, it's scary," said Brandin Aguayl, an Arroyo Grande resident.

A quiet Arroyo Grande neighborhood on Olive Street is just one of 10 neighborhoods in San Luis Obispo County where meth houses have been reported, that's according to The Department of Justice.

"We have strangers hang out, there's loud noises at night, people are being arrested off an on," said Collen Martin, an Arroyo Grande resident.

Collen Martin says after ten years of living next door to who she says is a meth addict, she's had enough.

"He has lots of drugs friends, lots of them. The house is known as a drug house," said Martin.

Central Coast News knocked on the door to see if anyone had anything to say, but no one answered. In September, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit searched the home and arrested three people after finding meth, heroine and marijuana. Since then, neighbors say the suspects are out of jail and back at the house.

"After that had occurred we had a neighborhood watch group...They really become kind of our eyes and ears because we can't be there all the time," said Commander Beau Pyror, Arroyo Grande Police Department.

Right around the corner on Cameron Court there is another suspected meth house.

"Were not very happy to hear about it all, it's just a big disappointment," said Dwight Giesmann, a neighbor.

Neighbors say they just want the meth houses out.

"Hopefully the house gets empty and then someone else buys it," said Aguayl.
