Update: One Man Dead, Woman in Critical Condition After Being Hit By Car

CAYUCOS, Calif.- The Public Information Officer from Sierra Vista Hospital tells Central Coast News one of the two pedestrians hit by a car Saturday night has passed away.

California Highway Patrol says the two pedestrians were struck while they attempted to cross the street at about 6:30pm in Cayucos.

Officials from Sierra Vista Hospital tell Central Coast News Manualo Karako, 87, of San Luis Obispo has died, while Sandra Karako, 66, remains in critical condition.

California Highway Patrol says they attempted to cross the street from the east side to the west side of Ocean Avenue when the car struck them. CHP has identified the driver as Rhiannnon Carroll, 32, of San Luis Obispo.

CHP does not suspect alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
