SANTA MARIA, Calif.- Hundreds of people came out to the Santa Maria Fairpark Sunday for the 3rd Annual Day of The Farm Worker.
The event brought health care providers together and provided a number of free services to regional agriculture workers. They offered screenings, blood pressure checks, vision screenings, chiropractic evaluations and flu shots. Volunteers who worked at the event say it's especially important during this time of year.
"Most of them are seasonal workers and their pay checks aren't coming in regularly so all these programs that are available to them health and environmental are very important to let them have a happy holiday season," said Tayna Moreland, a registered nurse.
Several of the volunteer nurses were from Marian Medical Center.
