SACRAMENTO--Prop 30 sales tax increase and other new laws take effect next month.
The New Year is going to bring hundreds of new laws to California. Most are the result of laws passed in the legislature. A few were passed by voters in the form of ballot measures last month.
One is Proposition 30, which raises income taxes on Californians earning more than $250,000 a year.
It also increases the sales tax a quarter percent. For every $100 spent on taxable goods, consumers will have to come up with an extra twenty-five cents.
If you are thinking about buying a high-ticket item, such as a car or boat, and want to save a few bucks, you may want to think about buying it before the year is over. Of course, you also have to consider that many things are priced lower after the holidays.
