12-12-12 Weddings In Santa Cruz County

Posted: Updated:

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- The Santa Cruz County Clerk has heard from many couples who want to make the magical date of December 12, 2012 the first day of the rest of their lives together. So, in response, the office will offer a full day of wedding ceremonies.

"We will offer wedding ceremonies every half hour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m." Santa Cruz County Clerk Gail Pellerin said. "And, if needed, we will provide more time slots as long as we have couples wishing to get married."

The cost of the wedding ceremony is $100. Couples will receive a special souvenir marriage certificate commemorating the beginning of their lives together on 12-12-12. Couples must reserve a time by calling 831-454-2060 or by coming to the County Clerk's Office located at 701 Ocean Street, Room 210, Santa Cruz.

If couples have previously called and were told the day was booked, Pellerin asked that they call again now that more appointments are available.

Couples must have a valid marriage license prior to the scheduled ceremony and have at least one witness present for public ceremonies. No witness is required for confidential marriages. A marriage license costs $90 and licenses are issued by the County Clerk. To obtain a marriage license, the bride and groom must appear in person with valid identification, complete a form providing personal information, and take an oath.
