CARPINTERIA, Calif- A high school teacher in Carpinteria has been arrested for several felony charges, all stemming from inappropriately touching a female student.
41 year old Michael Carey was arrested by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department, Wednesday afternoon.
In a news release, the Sheriff's Department says they are recommending felony sexual battery and misdemeanor child molestation charges to be filed against the high school teacher.
The case will now be handed over to the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's office for further review.
Carey is being held at the Santa Barbara County Jail on $25,000 bail and has been placed on administrative leave, pending a conclusion to the investigation.
