PORTLAND, Or. - Authorities are releasing new information about the man they say opened fire in a crowded mall near Portland, Oregon, killing two people and wounding a teenager, before taking his own life.
Authorities have identified the gunman as 22 year old Jacob Roberts. They say that he stole the rifle he used in the attack from someone he knew.
About 10,000 shoppers were inside the mall at the time, which officials said made the evacuation process hard. A memorial has been made outside the mall for the victims.
"I've lived and worked in this community many years and am deeply saddened," said general manager of the mall, Dennis Curtis.
Officials say the shooter did not have a criminal record. Meantime, the 15 year old victim is in serious condition at the hospital, but her injuries are not life-threatening.
