Santa Cruz, Calif.-Yesterday at approximately 4 PM Santa Cruz police received a call of a suspect trying to break into an apartment in the 500 block of Lincoln Street. The witness said there were two suspects, both white male adults, and one had tried to break in through a locked back door. The other subject had taken a bike from the back area. The suspects were not successful in getting into the apartment.
The witness provided a description and last known direction of travel, which was north toward Union Street. Officers located a subject matching the description of one of the suspects near Highway 1/9. Witness made positive identification as the subject that had tried to enter through the rear door. The other subject and the stolen bike have not been located as of yet.
The mug shot you see here is the man police detained. Arrested is 26 year old John Pilkington and known transient.
The second subject was described as a white male adult, 24 years-old, 180 lbs – medium height, purple pants, yellow shirt, black backpack and black sweater.
