Police Nab Suspected Drug Runner After Chase

Posted: Updated:

Santa Cruz, Calif.-Police had an unexpected gift this holiday season on Wednesday. During a routine traffic stop the driver was found to have outstanding drug warrants and fled the traffic stop on foot. He was nabbed a short time later hiding in a women's bathroom on the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

At approximately 1:30 PM on Wednesday a Santa Cruz police officer conducted a car stop on a BMW 4 door sedan for a vehicle code violation near Riverside and Liebrandt. The passenger in the car, 31 year old Labula Crittle of San Jose, provided a false name to the officer and did not provide ID. As the officer was checking the names of the driver, Crittle fled the vehicle. Officers were alerted to the subject on the run and after a search, officers located Crittle as he was heading into the Boardwalk. Officers established a perimeter around the suspected area and found Crittle hiding in the women's bathroom.

His real name was determined and he was found to have two felony drug related warrants out of Santa Clara County.
