Santa Maria Mother Convicted of Torturing Child

SANTA MARIA, Calif.- A Santa Maria woman accused of torturing her two-year-old daughter with scalding hot water has been found guilty.

26-year-old Lorena Arenas was found guilty of torture and child abuse. Back in April, Arenas scalded her then 2-year-old daughter with hot water after the girl was playing with her makeup.The girl suffered third degree burns.

Arenas is scheduled to be sentenced in February and could face a possible life sentence.
