MONTEREY, Calif.-- On Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 10:44 AM, a member of the In-Shape Gym located on the 23-hundred block of N. Fremont reported a burglary to his locker inside the facility. He says personal property was taken as well as the keys to his car, which was parked outside and then allegedly stolen by the suspect.
A short time later, Monterey Police Detectives located the unoccupied stolen vehicle on Del Monte Blvd. in Seaside. Three males, two adults and one 15-year-old were arrested when they attempted to pick up the car. The juvenile was identified as the suspect that committed the initial burglary at the gym. The victim's property was recovered.
The suspects arrested have been identified as Jason Avendano, 19, of Monterey; Alejandro Ernesto, 21, of Seaside; and a 15 year old juvenile from Seaside. They were charged with burglary, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and gang enhancements. The adults were additionally charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The juvenile is in Monterey County Juvenile Hall and the adults are in the Monterey County Jail.
