SANTA MARIA, Calif. - A Christmas morning car crash has landed one woman in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
California Highway Patrol says the driver, 29-year-old Alicia Ramirez of Ventura got off Highway 101 Southbound at the Clark Avenue exit just before 3:30 Tuesday morning because her passenger, 54-year-old Patricia Martin also of Ventura felt sick.
Martin opened the left back passenger door to vomit when 22-year-old Santa Maria resident, Stephane Boruas got off Highway 101 Southbound and also went west on Clark Avenue. That's when he hit the car Martin was in.
CHP says the top of Martin's head was scalped so she was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
CHP says no one else was hurt and alcohol and drugs were not a factor.
