SANTA MARIA, Calif.- Dozens of houses in Santa Maria decked out to the fullest for Christmas. It's all part of the 16th annual "Lights, Sights, and Holiday Nights" decoration contest.
More than 30 homes were nominated for the competition. Categories include: best decorated residence, best animation, best of show and best craftsmanship. Many of the winners tell Central Coast News this isn't the first time they've participated.
"When my son was with us we could do it in one weekend, but now that I am by myself especially when it's raining it'll take me two or three weekends," said Romeo Aguinado, one of the winners.
Despite the hard work of putting up so many lights, many of the winners say they plan on participating again next year.
