TAMPA, Florida -- CBS is reporting that Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf has died. Schwarzkopf commanded the international coalition that drove Saddam Hussein's forces out of Kuwait in 1991. Schwarzkopf was 78.

The Associated Press said Schwarzkopf died Thursday in Tampa where he was retired. The AP said Schwarzkopf was known to many as "Stormin' Norman" for having an explosive temper.

Schwarzkopf last served as the commander-in-chief of the U.S. Central Command. That is the organization in charge of military security for almost 20 counties from the eastern Mediterranean to Africa and Pakistan. For more information click here.
