Police Arrest Bay Area Man at Highlands Inn in Carmel

Posted: Updated:

CARMEL HIGHLANDS, Calif.--A guest of the Highlands Inn reported that a woman in the neighboring room was being choked.

It was later determined that 51-year-old Timothy Whicher of Concord, California, in the Bay Area, became angry with his wife while they were staying at the Highlands Inn.

The wife says she wanted to leave because Whicher was intoxicated and angry. When she tried to leave, she told police that he grabbed her on the deck and covered her mouth and nose with his hand preventing her from breathing. He told her he was going to kill her and knocked her to the ground.

The guest next door inquired as to what was going on and Timothy Whicher said everything was okay, but the neighbor called 911.

Police say that at one point during the struggle, Whicher's wife bit him in the hand in an attempt to free herself from him.

Whicher was arrested for attempted murder, spousal abuse, and criminal threats of death.
