UPDATE: House Overwhelmingly Approves Bill

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a bill to avert the looming fiscal cliff tonight, voting 257-167 to allow the latest bill, passed by the Senate early Tuesday morning, to be considered.

The outcome is considered strong support that the bill will pass a final vote, expected later tonight.

If the bill passes the House, it moves on to President Obama for his signature, ending weeks of fighting about how to deal with the tax hikes and spending cuts that began hitting the country today.

We'll have all the latest information to you as it happens on Central Coast News.
