SANTA BARBARA,
Calif. - Amtrak service up and down the Central Coast was halted this morning,
after a woman was hit and killed by a train.
The accident happened on Channel
Drive and Butterfly Lane in Montecito when the Amtrak train was heading
northbound to San Luis Obispo County, according to the Santa Barbara County
Sheriff's Department.
The woman who stepped in front of the train had a black
lab dog, which was taken by Animal Control.
Authorities are investigating
whether the woman intentionally stepped in front of the train.
Her name has not
been released by police.
