PASO ROBLES, Calif- The City of Paso Robles was very excited about Manny Guaderrama, but he has now stepped down from the police chief finalist.

According to the city, Guaderrama withdrew from the position because of family and financial issues with his wife having to leave her business in San Diego. In early December Central Coast News spoke to Guaderrama and he had big hopes for the city.  "My vision is that the Paso Robles Police Department provides professional service and we become the safest community or safest city in our region," said Guaderrama.

Now the search must start all over again for a new police chief. "Avery Associates will start doing the interview process, fortunately for the city the contract reads that we will not be charged," said Mayor Duane Picanco. The first search process cost the city roughly 19-thousand dollars and during the past year 60 applicants were interviewed.

"I would expect there will be a majority of new candidates, additional candidates," said Mayor Picanco.  Although the city is sad to see Guaderrama go, they are confident they will find the right, new top cop. "I know he was capable, I know he was qualified, he is a good man, but I'm sure we can find another one," said Mayor Picanco.

The new search for a police chief candidate is expected to take approximately five months.
