SANTA ANA, Calif. - Tens of thousands of Californians cannot buy food.
Computer problems left Electronic Benefit Cards cards empty after programmers updating software accidentally canceled them in 18 counties.
These cards are issued by the state and are used in lieu of food stamps to buy food at supermarkets, some restaurants and farmers markets, along with some other items.
County social service centers have replacement cards for people who had their's canceled by the computer glitch.
