San Luis Obispo County -- San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Deputies were involved in a standoff with an Arroyo Grande man overnight.
38 -year old Thomas Kadota is now under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. It all started last night at a home on Left Lane outside of Arroyo Grande off Lopez Drive.
Investigators tell us about 9:45 Kadota called an ambulance for his elderly mother. Deputies say Kadota became agitated and assaulted one of the EMTs who at the time was treating the man's mother. We're told the EMT was stabbed in the back, but was not seriously hurt.
Deputies got the EMTs and Kadota's mother out of the home , but Kadota refused to come out. Deputies surrounded the home and after more than five hours of negotiations they arrested Kadota without incident.
