Lompoc Church Looking to Become New Homeless Shelter

Posted: Updated:

LOMPOC, Calif. - A Lompoc church is looking to become a new homeless shelter for the city, if city leaders approve it.

According to the Lompoc Planning Commission, New Life Christian Center on the 800-block of North C Street is looking to become the first homeless shelter within the city limits.

The Church wants the planning commission to approve using its multipurpose room as at 16-bed shelter.

The only other location in city limits for the homeless to go to is Marks House on the 200-block of North N Street. It is a 19-bed transitional shelter for families and operates under a different set of guidelines than homeless shelters.

The planning commission meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in City Council chambers at City Hall, which is located at 100 Civic Center Plaza.
