SB Police Say Burglaries Are On The Rise and Blame Prison Realignment Plan

Posted: Updated:

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Police say burglaries are on the rise in Santa Barbara mostly due to more state prisoners being released early.

Santa Barbara Police Chief Cam Sanchez says these offenders would still be behind bars, if it wasn't for prison reform bill AB 109.

Officials say nearly 400 more crimes were committed in the city this year.

Santa Barbara City Police are teaming up with San Luis Obispo and Ventura Counties to see if prison realignment is causing more crimes.
