
PASO ROBLES, Calif- Not wanting to take any chances after receiving a report of a gunshot in the area of Bauer - Speck Elementary School , authorities placed the school on lockdown Thursday afternoon.
According to the police, the school staff had all the students "secure" before the police arrived on scene.
California Highway Patrol Air Operations were in the area and provided aerial support. After a check of the nearby area, officers were unable to find any evidence of a gun being fired in the area.
The school was on lockdown from about 11:30 p.m. to 11:50 a.m., said police. The school had just completed "lockdown training" on Wednesday and police said that is why the staff was able to secure the students so effectively.
The Paso Robles Police Department is requesting anyone with information about this incident to contact the PRPD.
