Morro Bay Sewage Treatment Plant Rebuild Denied

MORRO BAY, Calif. - The California Coastal Commission denied a request to rebuild the Morro Bay sewage treatment plant Thursday.

The Commission turned down the proposal in a unanimous vote.

This decision ends a long running and controversial battle in San Luis Obispo County.

Now the process begins to find a new inland location for the treatment plant.

The Morro Bay City Council asked the Coastal Commission to deny the project.
