LOMPOC, Calif- Cal Poly students toured the Lompoc Fire Department Friday with open minds, to get ideas of how to design a possible new fire station for it's growing needs. It will be one of several projects the city has worked on with Cal Poly students, who have helped design benches and light poles in downtown Lompoc.
Projects like this save the city money and give students valuable experience. "So by having an actual client, being the city, an you know someone who can give us feedback and what they need, not just something dreamed up in our professor's head is fantastic," said Cal Poly student Lilly Wellington.
In February students will conduct a community workshop for their midterm where students will set up displays, answer questions and receive input from the community. The project is expected to be completed in June, that's when the city will make its decision on whether to build the fire station.
