Groves Family Files Lawsuit For Deadly Big Rig Crash

BUELLTON, Calif. - The family hit in last year's deadly big rig crash on Highway 101 near Buellton that drew national attention is now filing a lawsuit.

A truck driver hit the family's BMV, before plunging into the creek last year on January 12th.  The truck driver died at the scene  The woman in the BMW, Kelli Groves, an her two young children of San Juan Capistrano were rescued as their car teetered over the side of a bridge.

Shortly after, lab results proved the driver of the truck had meth and other drugs in his system.

The Groves family is now suing R and R Auto Wrecking in Arroyo Grande, the auto company of the driver, for damages.  In the lawsuit, the family is seeking general damages, including the amount they had to pay at the hospital for their extensive injuries.  The family also seeks a trial by jury.
