Major Injury Accident Near Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol says one vehicle crossed double yellow lines around 6:50 Wednesday morning when two cars crashed head-on on Santa Maria Mesa Rd. and Rancho Tepesquet Rd.

Two people were taken to the hospital. One was taken to ambulance to Marian Medical Center. The other victim was airlifted to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.

The accident shut down traffic in both directions but has re-opened.
