SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - A new Supreme Court judge was sworn in on Friday afternoon in San Luis Obispo.
50-year-old Rita Federman was sworn in at the Jury Assembly Room in the Superior Court building.
"It is with great humility that I join my colleagues today on the bench to carry forth the traditions of our democracy to administer justice to the residents of San Luis Obispo County." said Federman. "I thank you for your confidence in my ability to fulfill that goal."
Federman currently serves on the Board of Directors for the San Luis Obispo Legal Alternatives Corporation, where she has been a member since 2004. She has also served the area as a judicial staff attorney.
