SANTA MARIA, Calif. -- Pro-life advocates rallied in front of Santa Maria City Hall on the 40th anniversary of Supreme Court ruling Roe v. Wade.
Activists marched from Broadway and Cook streets to the Planned Parenthood clinic on Chapel.
Local pastors and community leaders were protesting the controversial decision allowing women to commit abortion legally.
One woman came all the way from Oregon for the march.
"I really believe abortion is murder and I happen to have two children that I adopted," says protester Kathleen Hudson. "And had they not been adopted, they would have probably been flushed down the toilet so I feel real strong about it."
Researchers say there were 1.2 million abortions in 2011 but also say the number is at its lowest level since the ruling.
