Cuesta College Begins Spring Semester

Posted: Updated:

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The spring semester at Cuesta College began today with more than nine thousand students enrolled at the community college.

The enrollment figure includes students at all three Cuesta College locations, including the main campus outside San Luis Obispo, the North County campus in Paso Robles and the South County Center in Arroyo Grande.

With one hundred fewer courses offered due to the budget reductions, enrollment is down compared to last year. For more information, see story below.

More than 9,200 Cuesta College students are enrolled for spring classes that began today. They will see increased library hours in North County and can ride area buses free the first weeks of the semester.

Students can add a class with an instructor's approval until Feb. 3, so enrollment numbers can increase. Students can check class availability by clicking on "Find Classes" link on Cuesta.edu.

As of this morning, 9,220 students were registered to take courses on Cuesta's San Luis Obispo and North County campuses, its South County Center at Arroyo Grande High School or online through the college's Distance Education Program for the spring semester, which continues through May 24.

The student population is down compared with last year, reflecting the 100 fewer course offerings that were the result of state budget cuts for the 2012/13 fiscal year.
