Prescribed Burn Near Santa Maria This Week

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - If you see smoke in the Santa Maria area over the next few days, don't be alarmed. Fire crews are conducting a prescribed burn nearby.

The burn will happen about 15 miles east of Santa Maria near Pine Canyon Road. The purpose of the burn is to reduce the chances of a wildfire happening there in the future.

Smoke may be visible in the area for up to two weeks.
