SALINAS, Calif.- Salinas police released new information about their investigation Wednesday into a deadly hit and run on Sunday on Sandborn Road by identifying a person of interest.
Salinas police said they arrested Jorge Trujilio Lopez, 31, on Monday, but didn't release his identity until Wednesday. They are still trying to determine if he was driving Sunday night and caused the crash. Police are also trying to figure out if there are other suspects. The suspect vehicle was abandoned in a residential area just a few blocks away and located by officers shortly after the accident.
It is currently unknown if alcohol was a factor.
Manuel Ramirez Becerra, 35, was killed in the accident. His passenger is still in a San Jose hospital, but is expected to survive.
