"Mysterious" Item Being Towed Through Pajaro

PAJARO, CALIF- After a viewer posted a video of a very large object being transported under the cover of darkness through town, many people had theories about the "unidentified towed object."

Several people went straight for the conspiracy theory, claiming it was a UFO or something top secret. Central Coast News called several agencies and was finally able to track down some information.

According to CHP, a transformer was being escorted through town. If your mind went straight to the "robots in disguise" you have the wrong transformers.

This transformer was on its way to Moss Landing. According to the Santa Cruz Chapter of CHP, a company contracted them through Caltrans to escort the item since it weighs 600,000 pounds and was over 260 feet long. Apparently Caltrans requires these large items to be escorted in the overnight hours.

The costs associated with paying for the escort does not come from taxpayer dollars, it comes from the company wanting the item towed.
