No New Chief in Guadalupe, But a New Director of Public Safety is on Board

GUADALUPE, Calif. - Gary Hoving has been sworn in and named the, "Interim Director of Public Safety."  Hoving takes over for police chief George Mitchell who retired on Sunday.

Hoving worked for the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's department for 29 years before retiring in 2008.  Previously he worked as a reserve police Sergeant in the Guadalupe Police Department.

Hoving takes over on an interim basis and will be responsible for overseeing the police and fire departments.  The police department has 10 sworn officers and two non sworn office staff. The fire department as three full time fire captains and 11 paid call firefighters. His salary will be $37.20 an hour.
