Cigarette Causes Paso Robles House Fire

UPDATE: PASO ROBLES, Calif. - Fire investigators determined the Oak Street fire was caused by the improper disposal of smoking materials.

Cigarettes had been discarded in a trash container at the back of the residence.  Total loss is estimated at $123,000.

A house fire that broke out at 10:38 Sunday night on Oak Street in Paso Robles is under investigation by Department of Emergency Services Fire Investigators.

The fire broke out at 3243 Oak Street in Paso Robles.

When firefighters got to the scene, they found that the fire was in the back of the house and aggressively attacked the fire, successfully containing it.

Two residents were home at the time and got out safely before firefighters arrived.

15 firefighters helped put out the fire.

According to the City of Paso Robles, those firefighters are from the Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services, CALFire/SLO County Fire and Atascadero Fire Department.
