Righetti High School Online Publication Reaches Across World

Posted: Updated:

ORCUTT, Calif. - Righetti High School magazine "The Legend" is now available online for free.

According to the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District, more than 20 students, along with advisor Robert Garcia, plan to complete five to six issues this year.

The district also says that the students' news gathering has sparked conversation about closed campuses, relationships with parents, how students dance and bullying.

Garcia says, "I want their work to show people what they're capable of doing. The more exposure they receive, the more chances for opportunities later after high school."

Righetti High School Legend member Iliana Gutierrez says that since the magazine has expanded online, they have reached more people than expected.

"We've gotten responses from a former teacher, San Francisco and as far away as Germany. These people are all over the world," Gutierrez says.
