SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The search is on for a suspect who led police on a wild chase in Santa Maria on Monday afternoon, causing nearby schools to go on lockdown.
Police started the pursuit on the 500 block of West Mill Street shortly after noon, after recognizing the car was stolen. They stopped the chase when they thought it was unsafe to follow the suspect, who was driving recklessly.
Police later found the car near the area of Atlantic and Railroad.
They're still looking for the suspect, who they describe as a Hispanic Man with shaved hair and goatee, driving with a Hispanic woman with red curly hair. Anyone with more information is urged to call Santa Maria Police at (805) 928-3781.
