Stock Market Surge, Boom or Bubble?

Posted: Updated:

SANTA MARIA - The bull run continues on Wall Street with the Dow Jones Industrial Average nearing an all-time high.

But how long will the bulls keep the bears away?

"I have a number of customers who are calling thinking its time to get going again with their plans because we are back to where we were", says Santa Maria financial advisor Teri White of Edward Jones, "I have customers that are still concerned that we may have another crash or another downturn."

White says stocks are hot right now but that doesn't necessarily mean its time for the average Joe or Jane on Main Street to get in.

"Sometimes people get in the habit of measuring long time performance goals with short measuring sticks", White says.

White is advising patience and careful consideration for those thinking about asset re-allocation or pouring more money into stocks.

"If you are still employed and your retirement plan is not performing the way you think it should, it would be a good idea to take a look at it", White says, "look at your goals, see what are the right choices for you, given your personal goals, your personal comfort with volatility and the time frame you have to work with."

Analysts say the stock market is responding to better than expected corporate earnings and a turnaround in the housing market fueled by historically low mortgage interest rates.
