LOS OLIVOS, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Planning Commission has approved the construction of a hotel at Mattei's Tavern, which was originally built as a stagecoach stop in 1886.
The hotel proposed, which is expected to be a "cottage-style" hotel with buildings scattered around the property and has been the center of public controversy for the past four years.
Opponents have 10 days to appeal the project to the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors.
If no one appeals the hotel project at Mattei's Tavern, the commission's decision to approve the project is finalized.
