LOS ALAMOS, Calif. - If you see smoke near Los Alamos on Friday, don't be alarmed. Fire officials are planning a prescribed burn near the area.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department says the burn is scheduled to begin around 9 am. The burn will take place at the Bar-M Ranch, approximately two miles south of Los Alamos.
The Department has coordinated and worked with the Range Improvement Association for many years on these types of projects, which offer many training opportunities to their workers and help develop positive working relationships with community members. The burn is expected to be extinguished by 5 pm.
Smoke is expected to be visible from Highway 101 and some parts of northern Santa Barbara County.
