Meet The Biggest 49ers Fan On The Central Coast

Posted: Updated:

NIPOMO, Calif. -- Think you're the biggest San Francisco 49ers fan? Well, you have some competition!

A Nipomo man says he's the biggest fan and his house is proof.

You've never met a 49ers fan quite like Jim Wycoff. Jim has been to more than 200 games and has bled red and gold for 67 years.

He's got hand-drawn football cards of the original forty niners in 1946.

"I got golf balls here, cigars, band aids, I got ice cream," says Wycoff.

He remembers almost every game right down to the very scores.

"The first game the 49ers ever played was August 24th 1946," says Wycoff. "And they played a team called the Los Angeles Dons and they beat the Dons 17 to 7."

Back in 2003, Jim met former 49er Mike Shumann at a training camp in Santa Clara, California. Mike was so impressed by Jim's knowledge. He sent Jim a special 1946 49ers pin.

"After I got the pin, I called up Mike to thank him for the pin and he wasn't there so I left a message," says Wycoff. "And by gosh, he called me back!"

Jim's home is filled with so much memorabilia, he's running out of walls.

"I know!" says Jim's wife Carmen. "The bedroom, under the bed, ugh no more! This is it!"

But when you grow up with a team, it means something more than just sports.

"Everybody has a hero," says Wycoff. "I've been there with the good and the bad. I've been down the years when the 49ers won one game or they got blown out or they lost the second half but that's just the way football is."

Jim says of course he's confident the niners will win Sunday and in case you're wondering, he won't be selling any of his goods.
