Crews Knock Down Fire in Nipomo Early Sunday Morning

NIPOMO, Calif. - Cal Fire, San Luis Obispo County Fire and Santa Maria Fire all responded to a structure fire early Sunday morning in Nipomo. Heavy smoke in the garage spread throughout the home before crews were able to knock it out.

According to Cal Fire:

On Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 7:16, CAL FIRE/San Luis Obispo County Fire and Santa Maria Fire responded to a structure fire at 108 E. Vintage Street, Nipomo.  Crews encountered heavy smoke and fire from the garage spreading into the structure.  An aggressive attack was able to contain the fire to the garage and kitchen.  The remainder of the structure sustained heavy smoke and heat damage. 

The occupants were able to evacuate the house and there were no injuries. Total equipment committed to the fire was 1 Battalion Chief, 4 engines, 1 breathing support, 1 fire investigator, and 1 rescue.  Total personnel assigned to the incident were 15.

The structure is a total loss with damage estimated at $300,000 and an additional $50,000 for the contents.  The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
