High Speed Chase in Santa Maria Leads To Crash

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - An Arroyo Grande man is now facing charges for a high speed chase that ended in a crash.

A California Highway Patrol Officer tried to stop a stolen Chevy pick up truck on Highway 101 near Nipomo yesterday afternoon.  The driver, Juan Benitez, led the officer on a chase that ended in Santa Maria.

Benitez side-swiped four cars and hit another head on.  He was taken to the hospital with three other people injured in the crash and will soon get arrested.
