8.0 Earthquake in Solomon Islands Triggers Tsunami Warning

Solomon Islands, SOUTH PACIFIC -- The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting a 8.0-magnitude earthquake has hit the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific, it is early Wednesday morning there.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has issued a tsunami warning the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Tuvalu, New Caledonia, Kosrae, Fiji, Kiribati, and Wallis and Futuna.

A tsunami watch was in effect for more places.
