Five College Students Arrested for Alleged Drug Trafficking

ISLA VISTA, Calif.- Five college students in Santa Barbara were busted and placed in jail for alleged drug trafficking.

An Isla Vista Foot Patrol deputy arrested James Chung, 20, during a traffic stop on Saturday, February 2nd at 8:30pm. Deputies say Chung was in possession of 1/4 pound of marijuana and $2,000 in cash. Deputies found that Chung was en route to an apartment in the 6500 block of Del Playa Drive to meet another narcotics trafficker.  

Deputies continued their investigation and found that the other trafficker was going to rob Chung for the currency. Deputies and officers from the University Police Department responded to the scene and contacted the other drug trafficker, identified as Jorden Gendron. Gendron, 20, was arrested for attempted robbery.

A search warrant was conducted at Gendron's residence later in the evening.  Approximately 1.5 pounds of processed marijuana, over 1 ounce of cocaine and $3,000.00 in cash was seized.

Santa Barbara City College students arrested at the home were Francesco Iemol, 20, Connor Field, 20, and Christopher Tuszynski, 22.

All three additional subjects were booked into Santa Barbara County Jail with bail set at $30,000 each.
