SANTA MARIA, Calif. --
The man accused of running over and killing his girlfriend one year
ago...has finally been sentenced.
Tears flow throughout
the courtroom as the mother of victim, Antoinette Raygoza, faced the man accused
of killing her daughter in court for the last time.
"You have no idea, the
precious life you took from all of us," says mother Emma Garcia.
She recalled the night
Antoinette died.
"Ten people trying to
save her," says Garcia. "It was chaotic. They were doing all that they could.
Her brain was smashed and they said if they could save her she would be a
vegetable and I leaned over her and we were kissing and hugging her, telling her
to fight, baby girl! Please, come back to me!"
The judge sentenced
Jack Misiaszek to ten years in prison for vehicular manslaughter of Raygoza but
her friends and family says it's not enough.
"I've never been so
disgusted with anybody in my life," says friend Alma Carrasco. "He took my
friend's life. He doesn't care, he didn't care about anything. An hour passed
before he asked if my friend was dead or alive."
Under the law, ten years was the maximum
sentence Misiaszek could get for the charges.
